For Aurora’s latest news, visit aurora.tech and @aurora_inno on Twitter.Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all.We’re searching for a Staff Software Engineer for our Performance Engineering & Optimization (PEO) team.The PEO team empowers Aurorans to reduce onboard software latency & improve hardware utilization by building tooling and processes to discover and diagnose software & hardware performance problems. We enable engineers to determine the cause and effect relationship between onboard events. We are the center of excellence for C++ performance optimization.In this role, you will• Create tooling to probe, collect & store monumental amounts of performance data both on-vehicle & in-simulation.• Create tooling to ingest, process and efficiently visualize & compare said data.• Create tooling that helps SW and ML engineers prioritize optimization efforts.• Constantly collaborate with engineers in various domains within Aurora, including Autonomy, Sensing, Vehicle Platform, and Infrastructure.Required Qualifications• BS, MS or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science or a related field.• Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience• Strong C++-17 programming and software design skills• Knowledge of Linux and OS internals• Knowledge in programming with Python and high level languages• Knowledge of cloud storage and data pipeline engineering and best practices• Experience with modern DevOps practicesDesirable Qualifications (this section is optional)• Experience with x86 accelerators such as GPUs• Experience in data science and data engineering on cloud platforms.• Experience with frontend development technologyThe base [salary OR hourly wage] range for this position is $189K-$245K per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
