AV Technician II – Administration

The mission of the Allen Institute’s Administration team is to provide support and structure to the scientific divisions. Coinciding with the team science approach, administration helps facilitate team learning and the overall mission of the institute.

The Audio Visual (AV) Technician II role is responsible for handling all the AV and Technical concerns before and during meetings and corporate events. In coordination with the Facilities and IT teams, the AV Technician II tests equipment, AV system functionality and supports end user use of AV systems. Following all guidelines, requirements, and procedures, you will implement improvements as well as demonstrate advanced organizational and interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, and a sense of individual responsibility.

Essential Functions

  • Operate and maintain AV systems in conference rooms, training rooms and auditoriums
  • Oversee maintenance contracts and repair services
  • Initiate repairs and maintenance with AV service providers
  • Provide instruction on the use of AV equipment
  • Assist with AV setups for internal meetings and corporate events
  • Maintain understanding of current and new AV technology
  • Support facilities team with corporate event setup and teardown
  • Escalate housekeeping and technical issues outside of AV and conferencing

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience as an AV Technician using technology used in meeting spaces
  • Knowledge of Crestron devices and software
  • Certified Technical Specialist (CTS) certification

Physical Demands

  • Physical skills necessary to bend, stoop, lift, reach and perform basic physical tasks
  • Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds
  • Fine motor movements in fingers/hands to operate computers and other office equipment

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This role is currently working onsite and is expected to work onsite for the majority of working hours. The primary work location for this role is 615 Westlake Ave N., with flexibility to work remotely on a limited basis.

Annualized Salary Range

  • $43,652 - $61,113*
  • Final salary depends on required education for the role, experience, and level of skills relevant to the role, along with work location, where applicable.
