Sea View Playwright’s Theatre Audition/Production Announcement: “Vita & Virginia” By Eileen Atkins ☕ Directed by Danielle Bacibianco, @drprofb ✨ Step into the evocative world of “Vita and Virginia,” as the play brings to life the passionate, witty, and deeply sapphic relationship between two literary icons, Vita Sackville-West and Virginia Woolf. The drama centers attention to the epistolary and seductive love affair between Virginia Woolf and Vita Sackville-West was an intense, passionate, and deeply complicated relationship that transcended societal boundaries. Spanning several years in the early 20th century, their connection was a blend of intellectual attraction, emotional depth, and physical desire, which existed against the backdrop of patriarchal society. Virginia, the celebrated modernist writer, and Vita, the aristocratic poet and novelist, their romantic entanglement was bold and sensual. They not only forged a deeply personal love story but also challenged gender roles and explored the fluidity of love and identity. The play weaves together excerpts from their real-life letters and diaries, telling their journey of creativity, love, and longing. Sides will be provided at auditions.
