First Hawaiian Bank is currently seeking a Balancing & Control Specialist I in our Wealth Management Service Center which is located in our downtown Honolulu office to perform the reconciliation of the Daily Net Settlement (DNS) between FHB and its Trust Custodian. In addition, this position will also reconcile the affected General Ledger and control accounts accurately and timely, as well as, performing other balancing and reconciliations, inventory audits, and related general ledger and suspense account entries.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM (Hours may vary)

Some Additional Responsbilities Include:

  • Perform daily/weekly/monthly reconciliations and related activities. Conduct DNS processing and reconciliation of the Trust Bancontrol accounts.
  • Perform ACH postings, batch processing and GL ticket maintenance.

Review and process wire for daily DNS between FHB and its Trust Custodian, SEI.

  • Prepare, reconcile and maintain items for DNS and research and resolve any out of balance conditions. Respond to phone calls, emails, and other requests from line and staff employees to resolve exception conditions.
  • Follow up on ACH rejects.
  • Reconcile suspense and clearing accounts on a weekly/monthly basis.
  • Prepare weekly reports related to SEI position reconcilements and monitors/escalates aged position breaks
  • Prepare the periodic certifications of all suspense and clearing accounts for compliance purposes.
  • Record, transfer funds, and distribute Trust and PDS checks daily and maintain check log in a centralized location.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the Outstanding Check tracking system.
  • Process stop payments on the Retail Bank system (FIS ARPPA).
  • Track and submit monthly general ledger expense accruals and reversals. Communicate with Business Units and Controller’s Division to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Assist with the monthly audit of the internal vault.The ideal candidate will have:

Skills:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good analystical skills

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience required,
  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field preferred

Experience:

  • 1 year of experience in bank operations, trust operations, accounting, or related field.

Pay: $36,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
