This position is responsible for the availability and responsiveness of IT infrastructure and hardware. They will work in close contact with other IT department members, employees, and suppliers.Key Results Areas:1. Ensure compatible, secure, reliable, and up-to-date infrastructure hardware and systems.a. Manage local and cloud network infrastructures and configurations (firewalls, switches, routers, access points both onsite, in Azure, and offsite locations).b. Manage and troubleshoot connections to user devices (PCs, printers, peripherals, phones, etc.)c. Troubleshoot, maintain, and source new network equipment based on our department hardware refresh schedule.d. Plan, design, document, and test hardware implementations related to various network applications.e. This position is responsible for the scalability, reliability, and overall uptime of our network and network systems. Including configuring and maintaining automatic notifications of critical systems.f. This position is responsible for the documentation of the network design, topology, and configuration, as well as the configuration and baseline documentation of all related network devices.g. Ensure secure system environment with controlled access. Manage compliance with NIST 800-171, CMMC Level 2, and SOX requirements regarding infrastructure configurations.2. Working knowledge of Network platforms which may include any of the following:a. Security.b. Networking.c. Cloud infrastructure.d. Storage and compute infrastructure.e. Edge networking.f. Unified Communications.g. Wireless communications and networking.h. Telecommunications and circuits.3. Other responsibilities to support business include:a. Learning the ability to create and articulate business cases and justifications for technical requirements and solutions to both technical and non-technical customers.b. Learning and understanding implementation, configuration, troubleshooting, deployment and day-to-day management/maintenance of technical infrastructure, software, and systems.c. Display technical interest in and growing abilities across key platforms.d. Delivers tier 1 support for internal customers and provides peer review for other IT.e. This position is required to possess or obtain valid certifications as required by organizational needs. As well as attend relevant conferences as required.f. Infrastructure Engineer must work within prescriptive maintenance windows, change control and escalations.RequirementsQualifications:To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience, and abilities required.Education and Training• Extensive knowledge of networking and infrastructure management.• Associates degree in networking or equivalent through relevant certifications.Experience:• 5+ years’ experience with managing network infrastructure• Experience with analyzing and troubleshooting IT infrastructure hardware and related systems.• Firm understanding of network infrastructure and systems best practices.• Experience in working, supporting and/or documenting projects, changes, and initiatives.Other:• Must be willing to work overtime as required.Desired Job Qualification:• Knowledge of SQL, SQL Server, M365, and Azure systems.• Knowledge of relevant compliances [CMMC / NIST]• Knowledge of PC hardware, server hardware, and network infrastructure.Skills:To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:• To perform this job successfully, an individual must have proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, project management, enterprise resource planning, database, and specialized engineering application software.• Ability and willingness to abide by set policies and/or safety programs established by BN, our clients, and/or regulatory agencies which govern our performance and behavior in the normal course of our work while on BNI or the client’s property or job site.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.• Strong organizational and time management skills• High attention to detail• Ability to successfully plan and implement objectives within established timelines and work schedules.• Ability to analyze problems and develop effective solutions at both strategic and functional levels.• Ability to maintain solid working relationships with engineers, operations, peers, and all employees.• Demonstrate behavior consistent with company values.• Ability to work independently, with minimal direction as a highly motivated self-starter and within a team-oriented culture.Position Travel Requirements:Up to 20%ITAR Requirements: To conform to U.S. Government commercial space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), applicants for employment at Barber-Nichols must be a U.S. citizen or national, lawfully admitted for permanent residence into the U.S. (i.e., current green card holder), or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum under 8 U.S.C. § 1157-1158.
