This position is located on-site at Tyndall Air Force Base, near Panama City, FL. The successful candidate will support the Fire Integrated Research and Engineering (FIRE) team in efforts related to U.S. Air Force firefighter requirements, specifically related to new firefighting agents, and extinguishment systems in various military settings (hangars, vehicles, etc).Active areas of research include, but are not limited to:1. Firefighting agent design2. Personal protective equipment3. Agent dispersal techniques and equipment4. New fire suppression agents and technologiesResponsibilities• Performs RDT&E of moderate complexity by compiling and evaluating design and test data, preparing technical specifications, analyzing technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process or materials specifications• Designs experimentation procedures for evaluation of fire extinguishment systems, including instrumentation, and data collection from field testing• Presents findings via technical reports• Performs standardized chemical analysis of firefighting agentsKey Qualifications• BS in chemical engineering, fire protection engineering or equivalent• Knowledge of fire research and/or firefighting practices is required• Proactive, self-starter who can work independently and in a team environment• Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a security clearanceBenefits: Live an Extraordinary LifeWe care about your well-being, not just on the job.
