Primary Purpose:
Support the Benefit department's wellbeing, administration, customer service, analytics, and compliance initiatives. Be the key day-to-day contact for Sempra corporate and Sempra Infrastructure wellness programs. Provide first line client servicing to all employees within Sempra family of companies for benefit inquiries, processing, enrollment and intervention/resolution.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports Sempra Corporate Center and Sempra Infrastructure wellness programs. Answers employee questions and organizes wellness activities. Collaborates and coordinates with SDG&E and SoCalGas wellness teams.
- Aids in compliance and analytics of benefit programs. Assists in research for claims and appeals. Coordinates compliance mailings (e.g., SARs, AFNs, claims, etc.) with printing and mail rooms. Supports return mail, accurate address verification, and dependent verification process.
- Communicates with employees, retirees, and qualified dependents to explain plan provisions and assists in the processing of complex tasks such as open enrollment, qualifying life events, retirement, and commencing benefits. Reviews and responds to the Benefits mailbox.
- Aids in administration and customer service of benefit programs. Processes weekly and bi-weekly data files, invoices (e.g., medical plan claim files, HSA funding, 401k recordkeeping fee invoices, etc.), retiree health billing procedures, Medicare form certifications, payroll vacation buy, and arrears transactions, Agency/Transfer hires in conjunction with Benefits and HR Accounting and Compliance.
- Supports well-being efforts across the Sempra family of companies at the direction of the Benefits Senior Project Manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Education:
- H.S. Diploma/GED, required.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Accounting or related field, or equivalent combination of training and/or experience, preferred.
Experience:
- 1+ years of experience with benefit programs administration and compliance, preferred.
- Additional years of administration experience may be substituted for certification coursework.
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of general HR procedures and practices, required.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects, required.
- Strong problem-solving skills, required.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, required.
- Must have excellent computer skills (MS Office, HRIS), preferred.
- Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
- We offer a hybrid work environment. Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow you to work from the office three days per week and work remotely on the remaining workdays.
