Overview:

UW Credit Union is hiring for a group of Bilingual (Spanish/English) Customer Service Specialists to provide customer service and support our members in our retail branches.


This is a great opportunity for individuals who want to start a career in financial services. Training is a top priority for UW Credit Union. Our Customer Service Specialists' first 12 weeks are devoted to on the job training.


As a Customer Service Specialist you build and maintain relationships with members, help understand their needs, provide education on financial options, and make recommendations to help members achieve their financial dreams. You would help members open their first checking account, help them apply for an auto loan or first mortgage, discuss retirement savings, and beyond.

Responsibilities:
A Day in the life of a Customer Service Specialist
Every day will be different but below is a snapshot of what you will do:
    • Start the day at your assigned branch location and meet with you team for a morning huddle to discuss updates and goals for the day
    • Greet members as they come into the branch and be a resource to Spanish speaking members
    • Meet with members to learn about their financial goals and educate them on financial products and services
    • Open up accounts, complete loan applications, answer member questions, and handle transactions
    • Understand all credit union products and services through training and self-guided learning tools
    • Call members to check-in and follow-up on new account activity
    • Partner with team members to meet the goals for product sales, and referrals
    • Be a leader at the branch and serve as a mentor and positive role model for Tellers and Financial Specialists
    • Handle escalations to effectively address critical member needs and concerns
Qualifications:

What You’ll Need to Succeed


These skills and experiences are essential to your success:

  • Fluent verbal and written communication in Spanish and English
  • 3-5 years of customer service and/or retail sales experience
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to learn a wide range of product knowledge and continue to learn and develop your skill-set
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships and provide great customer service
  • Demonstrated experience being flexible, adaptable, coach-able, and collaborative in a constantly changing work environment
  • Proficiency with personal computer and office software

Things to know about training:

  • Virtual, classroom and branch training for the first 12-weeks of employment
  • The training class is anticipated to start on July 10th.
  • On the job training at a Madison area branch location that will be determined by your start date
  • 2 hours a week dedicated to studying to pass the Credit Life Credit Disability (CLCD) Exam
  • Continuous learning and development opportunities including but not limited to transparent dialogs, resources, tools, and technical learning modules
