Position Summary

Schedules and registers patients over the phone, with no patient contact. Obtains insurance information, referral forms and counsels patients on financial assistance over the phone.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides patient scheduling services to include collecting demographics and insurance registration. Reviews schedule for new patients, updating when necessary.
  • Communicates with physicians and clinical staff to assist with scheduling urgent or referred patient scheduling calls/requests.
  • Calls patients with appointment time reminder, obtaining insurance information and referral forms. Process internal physician referral for clinical care.
  • Assists with sending out reminder cards and other scheduling duties. Works Relatient patient reminder system results and contacts patients or makes scheduling changes.
  • Based on physician input may make daily edits and temporary changes to provider scheduling templates.
  • Obtains insurance information from patients and counsels alternative ways for financial assistance. Assists patients with insurance questions
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • EPIC EMR and Scheduling background.
  • Effective customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and working knowledge of insurance and financial options.
  • Prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability with Microsoft office including Excel and Word.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification with three years of experience in billing systems and third-party claims and/or experience in a medical office setting or related customer service/office experience.

Grade

G06-H

Salary Range

$17.14 - $25.70 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
