SmithGroup is looking for a training-focused BIM Technologist to join our Technology in Practice (TIP) group. TIP works with project teams and disciplines across SmithGroup to improve the quality and efficiency of our design process and project delivery. This position can be located in any of our offices.
Working with us you will:
- Develop a deep understanding of the Architecture/Engineering (A/E) industry s technology landscape by working with a team of experts who implement cutting-edge solutions
- Assist all practitioners in using SmithGroup's primary authoring tool, Autodesk Revit, in conjunction with firm documentation standards to create top-quality deliverables
- Build internal training courses for existing and new technologies, and update course content in response to evolving technologies and standards
- Lead internal training sessions of varying lengths on a regular schedule, including onboarding sessions which can span multiple days as well as short firmwide presentations for new or updated tools
- Engage in firmwide support on our internal technology helpdesk to identify training gaps and opportunities for improvement
- Support the rest of the Technology in Practice team on the implementation and roll-out of new tools and software
- Coordinate with the human resources team to schedule onboarding sessions and track attendance and information retention
An ideal candidate has:
- bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience in the AEC industry
- Subject matter expertise in Autodesk Revit including practical application of BIM best practices
- ACI (Autodesk Certified Instructor) certification is strongly preferred
- Experience in developing structured courses with clear learnings objectives
- A friendly, approachable personality that fosters engagement among students
- Experience in creating high-quality documentation of project standards and processes
- Ability to understand and organize large amounts of information that is technically complex and originates from a variety of sources
- Ability to work with a broad mix of learning styles
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Located within a commutable distance of one of the SmithGroup offices.
