Manager, Employee Relations

We’re seeking an experienced Manager of Employee Relations to join us at our Durham location, which serves as both our hub for nearly 600 talented employees and our global headquarters. The Manager of Employee Relations will play a pivotal part in fostering a positive work environment by tracking and resolving complex employee relations issues. Your expertise will be instrumental in implementing HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and fairness across our US-based locations (NC, MA and CA). Collaboration will be key as you work alongside various departments to enhance overall employee satisfaction. You’ll also have the opportunity to manage all aspects of employee relations, ensuring that our team members are not just motivated and engaged but also fully supported throughout their employment journey.

 


As Manager, Employee Relations your day-to-day activities will include:
  • Provide day to day HR guidance to employees and managers on a variety of employee relations matters including, but not limited to, policy interpretation, performance counseling, high performance, career development, succession planning, conflict resolution, retention, and internal investigations.
  • Partner with leadership and people managers to provide guidance and support on employee relations issues, performance management and organizational development.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements impacting human resources plans/programs ensuring compliance with all required government reporting, regulation changes, and required documentation.
  • Conduct and report on exit interviews for Associate Director level and below to determine reasons behind voluntary separations and report on trends.
  • Respond and report on external employee rating websites including but not limited to Glassdoor, indeed, and our Ethico Hotline.
  • Analyze Employee Relations (ER) data to determine trends, themes, and root cause to provide insights, training, and recommendations.
  • Assist with ideation of employee relations content, project work and other duties.
  • Manage the Annual Employee Engagement Survey Process as well as the review of results, and action planning process. Proven ability to analyze current and emerging trends (best practices) and use various survey data to create meaningful engagement strategies.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of employee celebrations and events.
  • Collaborate with Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and Human Resources to further the Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) strategies and principles.
  •  Ensures compliance with federal regulations, including but not limited to filing EEO-1 report, OSHA 300A, and required Bureau of Labor Statistics reports (maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to regulations)
  • Responsible for communication and completion of paperwork with outside entities, including but not limited to workers compensation, unemployment claims, verification of employment, etc.
  • Assists with the development, implementation, and communication of procedures; maintains BioAgilytix Employee Handbook


These are skills needed to be successful:
  • In-depth understanding of all HR disciplines, including state and federal employment related laws, regulations, and requirements; ability to apply that knowledge in business situations.
  • Experience in conducting HR investigations in a multi-state organization is a plus.
  • Proven ability to make judgment calls and sound, ethical decisions displaying a heightened level of responsibility, confidentiality, integrity, compassion, and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in analyzing Employee Relations metrics and utilizing data to inform decision-making.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate concepts to multiple audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of management and employees; ability to gain credibility, provide effective customer service, and foster positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate closely and keep running line of communication with other members of human resources team.
  • Excellent attention to detail; ability to work accurately and to identify, analyze, prevent, and solve problems.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) and Adobe Acrobat


Qualifications and Competencies Preferred:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in roles related to Employee Relations, HR Business Partnering, or equivalent, with at least two (2) years in a managerial capacity.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, provincial, and local employment laws, and regulations.
  • SHRM-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) preferred.


Working Environment
  • Primarily office (i.e., blend of office and work-from-home)
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
