Talent Acquisition Manager

Binti builds modern software to help every child have a safe, loving, and stable family. Working with county and state governments across 36 states, Binti's tools improve the child welfare system. The 500+ agencies using Binti serve about 42% of children in child welfare in the US, and agencies using Binti have increased the number of approved families by an average of 30%, making a real dent in the shortage of foster/adoptive parents for children in the US. Beyond helping families foster/adopt children, Binti is launching software to support families who are struggling to get the services they need to stay together with or reunify with their children.

Binti is a for-profit, mission-driven software company based in Oakland, CA. Investors include Founders Fund, First Round Capital, Kapor Capital, and others. Overview of Role

Building a talented, diverse and high-performing  team is the foundation for Binti’s ability to make positive change in the world. As Talent Acquisition Manager, reporting to our VP of People, you will lead this effort, implementing best practices for sourcing, interviewing, and DEI initiatives, along with building a world-class recruiting team, to prepare Binti for success as we grow from ~100  employees currently to doubling in size (or more!) in the coming years. 

What You Will Do

  • Independently lead Binti’s Talent Acquisition operations from end-to-end, initially as the sole member, and eventually as the manager and leader of a growing team that exemplifies Binti’s high-performing and high-empathy culture

  • Manage the full recruitment cycle across multiple departments, ensuring a smooth and candidate-friendly hiring process. 

  • Utilize sourcing and applicant tracking software to streamline the recruiting process and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates. 

  • Collaborate with department heads to understand their hiring needs and support Binti’s efforts to grow and scale 

  • Iterate and innovate on Binti’s recruiting and sourcing strategies to ensure we have a robust, diverse, talented pipeline of candidates

  • Own and improve Binti’s hiring process (e.g. build a library of documented Standard Operating Procedures) to ensure an inclusive and effective process that allows Binti to vet for the most important attributes for success in a role while reducing bias

  • Track and report on recruitment metrics, such as time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, and candidate satisfaction; use data to identify areas for improvement 

  • Build strong relationships across Binti, as a thought partner and valued service provider to hiring managers, plus an empathetic and inspiring collaborator to everyone involved in interview plans

  • Contribute to Binti branding initiatives to position Binti as an employer of choice 

  • Identify and engage external sourcing, contingency, and contract recruiters as needed and appropriate, using excellent business judgment to manage Binti resources

Sample Projects

  • Revise Binti’s interview plan and process to increase quality results, speed time to hire and mitigate bias

  • Build a new talent acquisition dashboard that readily portrays both an overview of Binti’s current/recent recruiting activity along with key performance indicators

  • Expand Binti’s sourcing resources and capability to find and attract the best talent while ensuring we are identifying and creating opportunities for candidates from underrepresented groups

  • Build the hiring plan so that Binti is prepared for the dramatic growth phase that will follow Binti’s first state-wide full CCWIS (Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System) contract 

Who You Are / What We Love About You

  • 5+ years of experience in end-to-end talent acquisition, including sourcing, candidate pipeline management, interview coordination, debriefs, referencing, and offer letters.

  • Proven experience building a talent acquisition team - hiring, onboarding, and managing recruiters, sourcers, coordinators

  • Demonstrated success enhancing the talent acquisition capabilities of a high-growth and high-performing early-stage software company; demonstrating an entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to be a “hands-on” leader

  • Passion for innovation with a focus on providing an amazing experience to both hiring managers and candidates. 

  • Commitment to holding a high bar for talent as evidenced via rigorous sourcing, screening, and referencing

  • Deep knowledge of the external technical talent environment, market trends, competitors, and general talent availability.

  • Demonstrated experience and success in recruiting technical profiles - engineers, designers, product managers 

  • Commitment to and experience with diversity and inclusion initiatives

  • Proven analytical skills/metrics driven; appreciates the value of data-driven decision-making and accountability

  • Excellent communication skills - both written and oral

  • Strong work ethic; able to work under pressure and juggle multiple responsibilities to meet deadlines and deliver results.

  • Experience utilizing recruiting software, e.g.  Applicant Tracking Systems (ATSs) - Binti currently uses JuiceBox and Ashby

  • Comfort with uncertainty and thrives working in a  fast-paced environment
