Biomedical Tech II

    GENERAL SUMMARY
      The Biomedical Technician II is responsible for repairing and performing preventive maintenance on all types of medical patient care equipment. Reports to department leadership.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Coordinates and assists with equipment evaluations and installations.
    • Works with equipment manufacturers on repairs, scheduled maintenance and parts needed for equipment maintenance.
    • Responds to emergency calls from hospital units in a timely manner.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
      Certification by International Certification Commission (ICC) in general or specialty field preferred.
    MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Associates degree in electronics or biomedical electronics required. Previous military biomedical experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
    • Minimum of four years biomedical experience required.
    • Technical skills necessary to effectively perform incoming inspections, equipment installations, repairs, preventive maintenance and all other related tasks.
    • Ability to properly use test equipment, interpret schematics, understand service documentation and utilize service software.
    • Strong I.T. and computer skills required.
    • Must possess advanced analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills with good attention to detail.
    • Knowledge and understanding of all applicable codes and standards.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Interpersonal skills necessary to develop positive interactions with co-workers in order to maintain a harmonious work environment.
    • Ability to document work in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively and meet deadlines for completion.
    • Must be self-motivated and responsible.
    • Must meet the insurability policy requirements to drive a CHKD vehicle.
    • Must be able to pass the CHKD driving test within 30 days of employment.
    WORKING CONDITIONS
      Biomedical work environment with occasional exposure to hazardous materials and unpleasant odors from chemicals. Possible exposure to infectious agents when handling or coming into contact with contaminated surfaces. Potential for personal harm or injury is reduced when proper safety and health precautions are followed. Exposure to general construction environment. Exposure to X-Ray radiation possible.
