Job Description

Task Specification

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing all sustainability-related initiatives, developing and implementing comprehensive sustainability strategies that align with environmental regulations, corporate social responsibility (CSR) objectives, and industry best practices. This role involves close collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive sustainable practices across the organization ensuring sustainability goals are fully integrated with business objectives and long-term growth strategies.

Your contribution to something big: 

  • Coordinate sustainability-related initiatives across the organization (e.g., CO2 Scope 3, circular economy, EU Taxonomy, EU CSRD, …)
  • Monitor sustainability trends, including customer requirements, industry developments, regulatory changes, competitor analysis, and emerging best practices.
  • Participate in sustainability reporting processes, in particular in ensuring timely and high-quality delivery, validation and plausibility verification of the associated data.
  • Identify skill gaps and implement appropriate training or sourcing initiatives to enhance capabilities in sustainability-related areas.
  • Support management in integrating sustainability into the organization’s overall strategy, including defining sustainability goals, as well as binding rules and processes.
  • Evaluate opportunities and risks and derive strategic actions in sustainability to support long-term organizational goals.
  • Define binding reporting and escalation paths, establish specific KPIs, and track and report progress on sustainability targets.
  • Coordinate the implementation of target achievement, if necessary, initiation of measures.
  • Support and enable relevant stakeholder groups in the organization (e.g. product management, sales, engineering, purchasing, etc.) to enable sustainable business and integration of sustainability aspects in relevant activities.
  • Support in handling sustainability-related customer inquiries and requirements in the organization.
  • Ensure consistent internal and external communication regarding sustainability efforts.
  • Support the initiation and management of sustainable innovation projects, such as Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), Product Carbon Declarations (PDC), and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD).

Qualifications

What distinguishes you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Several years of professional experience in sustainability management.
  • Management capabilities, strategic and comprehensive thinking.
  • Project management experience with the ability to lead initiatives across departments and drive results.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Good spoken and written English.
