Boston Harbor City Cruises is seeking a Dock Concierge for our operation in Hingham, MA.

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences’ RESPECT Service System.

About the Opportunity:

We are currently seeking friendly, upbeat people to work as Dock Concierge to provide excellent service to our customers. If you like interacting with people from all over the world, have a friendly, outgoing personality, then this may be the position for you! Our Dock Concierges work various outdoor locations along the Boston Waterfront, engaging with customers as they wait to board a cruise, processing passengers' tickets, and providing helpful information to visitors.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests with a smile and spoken “hello”, interacting with customers in a friendly and helpful manner.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Physical Demands- This position regularly involves walking and standing for long periods of time and the ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Dock Concierge will be stationed at various locations outdoors and will work in all forms of weather.
  • Capacity to keep calm in a busy, fast-paced work environment.
  • Understanding and familiarity with Anchor- City Experiencs’ Reservations system.
  • Understanding and familiarity with Dock Access- City Experiences’ Ticket Redemption and Scanning System.
  • An understanding of technology and City Experiences’ provided ticket redemption devices. Concierge will check and scan customer’s tickets and make certain customers are at the correct boarding location.
  • Familiarizing yourself with all our Third Party (FIT) Voucher Companies and the redemption or collection process for each voucher.
  • Understanding and familiarity with City Experiences’ scheduling platforms. Concierge will be tasked with punching in & out at the start and end of every shift.
  • Providing accurate information about the Boston Waterfront area and answering any questions passengers may have.
  • Provide directions to points of interest in the area, such as historical sites, restaurants, tourist attractions, transportation etc.
  • Work cooperatively as part of a cohesive team, following company guidelines and supervisors’ direction.
  • Additional job duties assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • An outgoing personality and good sense of humor, able to interact with guests in a friendly, courteous manner
  • A sincere interest in learning all aspects of customer service
  • Knowledge of the Boston and Waterfront area (to give directions to area restaurants and attractions)
  • Ability to follow a detailed and highly structured set of policies and procedures
  • A positive, "can-do" attitude as part of a well-functioning team
  • Agreeable to working outdoors in all kinds of weather
  • You must be able to work at least one weekend day per week as part of the schedule; those able to work both weekend days have an advantage
  • We seek candidates that are available to work into the fall, at least through October 31 as well as a combination of weekday and weekend shifts. Dock Concierge are required to work one weekend day, those with availability to work both weekend days will be strongly considered. There are opening and evening shifts available.
