Who You Are

Brightwheel is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join our core app  team, focusing on Growth and Activation functions, a major focus for brightwheel in 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for a product-minded leader who thrives in customer centric environments and is passionate about building high-performing teams. You balance technical depth with people management skills, ensuring your team can deliver scalable solutions while fostering a supportive, growth-oriented culture. What You’ll Do
  • Lead our Growth and Activation pods. Both are full-stack teams of passionate, dedicated engineers to rapidly deliver projects while balancing quality.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and business stakeholders to deliver against pod goals and roadmaps
  • Maintain accountability for the architecture, development, testing, and reliability of for featuresets within the pod’s ownership
  • Develop and grow the team by mentoring and coaching engineers, as well as through performance management and hiring
  • Drive process improvements to increase product velocity while simultaneously raising the bar for quality and operational excellence
  • Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Brightwheel’s engineering management team


Qualifications, Skills, & Abilities
  • You have 3+ years of experience managing a full-stack product engineering team of 4+ engineers, and have a track record of shipping critical customer-facing features. 
  • Ideally, you are strong at project management and have experience managing multiple small teams or simultaneously managing multiple high priority work streams.
  • You have experience delivering improvements via A/B testing and data-driven iteration and optimization.
  • You have experience hiring engineers at various levels including Sr Engineers and above
  • You have a pragmatic approach to developing and evolving right-sized processes that help teams operate effectively
  • You have experience working with 3rd party vendors to deliver customer-facing solutions
  • You have strong technical depth and can participate in, as well as influence, technical architecture and design discussions, especially as it pertains to scalability and reliability
  • You work very well cross-functionally and are able to make hard decisions and trade-offs while incorporating a diversity of perspectives
  • You’re an empathetic listener with strong verbal and written communication skills, and have  the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and different levels within the company
  • You encourage a healthy work environment that is both supportive and challenging


$142,500 - $237,000 a year
Brightwheel is committed to internal pay equity and offers a competitive compensation package, including base salary, equity, and benefits. Our benefits package includes premium medical, dental, and vision benefits, generous paid parental leave, a flexible paid time off policy, a monthly wellness and productivity stipend, and a Learning & Development stipend.

For cash compensation, brightwheel sets standard ranges for all roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar-stage growth companies. Multiple factors determine final offer amounts, including geographic location, candidate experience, and expertise.
