Role overview
The Director of Accounting will report directly to the VP of Finance and have overall responsibility for Brigit’s accounting function. This role will be primarily responsible for the execution of all aspects of accounting including: month/quarter/year-end close, technical accounting/policy development, debt & cash management, AR and AP cycles, financial reporting, financial controls, payroll, tax, and audit. This hire will be our in-ouse dedicated accounting expert, and will build the team, processes, and systems that can scale and support us through the next phase of transformation and growth.
What you’ll be doing
Own day-to-day accounting operations, including but not limited to: financial close, reporting, cash management, AR, AP, tax, account reconciliations, etc.
Implement improvements in processes, controls, and systems to drive operational efficiencies and automation
Continuously improve the quality and timeliness of financials for internal and external reporting
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting and regulatory standards
Hire, manage, and mentor an internal accounting team
Manage the external audit process and prepare audited financial statements
Enhance technical accounting policies, such as revenue recognition, capitalized software, etc.
Manage current financial systems and tools, such as Quickbooks, Bill.com, and Ramp.com, while exploring opportunities for other vendors
What you have
7+ years of experience spread across public accounting and in-house, high growth startups
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related degree
History of implementing new accounting processes and scaling a team
Experience managing an audit and external consultants
Knowledge of technical accounting principles and how to operationalize them
Proficient in accounting software (ERP) and Microsoft/Google suite (Word/Excel/Powerpoint)
Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to effectively collaborate cross-functionally
Comfortable analyzing detailed data and summarizing findings to executive stakeholders
Bonus points for: fin-tech industry experience, subscription revenue experience, hiring/scaling a team, CPA license and/or “Big 4” accounting, ERP implementation experience, familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, Periscope
The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $165,000 - $185,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits for which an individual may be eligible. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
