The Role:
As Policy Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and carrying out Brimstone’s policy, public affairs, and community engagement strategy. You will report to the Vice President for Policy and Public Affairs, and interact closely with the Head of Communications and across the various technical, operational, and business teams.
Responsibilities:
Policy Development and Strategy: Help craft and execute on an advocacy strategy to achieve Brimstone’s goals as an innovative, strategically important part of the U.S. manufacturing base and leader in industrial decarbonization.
Government Relations: Cultivate strong relationships with federal, state, and local government officials and agencies to advance Brimstone’s policy, legislative, and regulatory objectives.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with industry associations, non-governmental organizations, standards-setting bodies, and key national and international players across the manufacturing, industrial materials, and sustainability sectors, to build and expand coalitions, advocate for key policies, and contribute to the development of industry standards and approaches.
Policy Research and Writing: Track, conduct research and write persuasively on key policies, regulations, and legislative initiatives, with a focus on manufacturing, supply chain resiliency, reshoring jobs, climate and clean energy, and industrial innovation.
Community Engagement: Assist in the development and administration of a strategy to engage the local communities where Brimstone operates, foster positive relationships with local leaders and groups, and devise ways of delivering material community benefits.
Qualifications:
A minimum of four years of experience in government in the United States at the federal, state, or local level or in a government-facing role (e.g. at an NGO or lobbying firm).
Demonstrated ability to navigate complex political, regulatory, and policy issues.
Familiarity with the U.S. policy landscape for the industrial and manufacturing sectors (e.g., supply chain resiliency, reshoring jobs, industrial decarbonization, energy policy, etc.).
Track record of building and maintaining relationships and alliances with diverse government, business, and community stakeholders.
Capacity and willingness to engage at the local level with community groups and leaders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Great political instincts and creative problem-solving.
Ability to travel as needed.
