Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a determined Direct Technician Trainer who embodies our core values: Service, Accountability, Customer Focus, Growth, and Integrity. The Trainer will be responsible for developing and delivering training programs for new and existing alarm service technicians. This role involves creating comprehensive training materials with marketing, conducting hands-on training sessions across areas, and ensuring that all technicians are proficient in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of alarm systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and update training materials, manuals, and guides for alarm service technicians.
- Conduct classroom and hands-on training sessions on the installation, maintenance, and repair of alarm systems.
- Evaluate the performance of trainees through assessments and provide constructive feedback.
- Stay updated with the latest industry standards, technologies, and best practices.
- Ensure all training programs comply with safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist in the onboarding process of new technicians, providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with the technical support team to identify training needs and gaps.
- Maintain training records and track the progress of each trainee.
- Provide ongoing support and mentorship to technicians post-training.
- Train technicians on alarm panels such as 2GIG, Qolsys, Ademco, GE, DSC, DMP, and others.
- Teach troubleshooting techniques for technical problems.
- Instruct on replacing system components such as panels, peripheral devices, audible/visual alarms, etc.
- Guide technicians on performing service visits, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Educate on diagnosing causes of problems or failures in systems to identify equipment and systems repair.
- Train on conducting thorough walkthroughs/site evaluations with customers to review work orders and ensure systems meet their needs and expectations.
- Teach the installation and testing of all equipment to ensure proper functionality and signal verification required to establish service.
- Identify opportunities to improve the use and functionality of customers’ systems and provide those recommendations.
- Emphasize maintaining safety practices to prevent injury and damage to property.
- Instruct on maintaining a clean and organized workspace/job site, ensuring customer satisfaction after the interaction.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an alarm service technician or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of alarm systems, including fire alarms, intrusion alarms, and access control systems.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to create engaging and effective training materials.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Certification in relevant alarm systems or technologies.
- Previous experience in a training or mentoring role is preferred.
- H.S. Diploma or GED.
- Good driving record and valid driver’s license.
- Technical proficiency in alarm system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using training software and tools.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and inspire others.
