In oncology, hematology, immunology and cardiovascular disease – and one of the most diverse and promising pipelines in the industry – each of our passionate colleagues contribute to innovations that drive meaningful change. We bring a human touch to every treatment we pioneer. Join us and make a difference. The new Bristol-Myers Squibb research site in Cambridge Crossing will help us continue to deliver on our mission, positioning the company and our scientists in the heart of a vibrant ecosystem of world-class science, innovation, and business opportunities. The Mechanisms of Cancer Resistance Thematic Research Center at BMS is one of the fundamental research and early development engines delivering oncology therapeutics to patients. The scientists at this state-of-the-art research and development site in Cambridge focus on novel tumor intrinsic targets and pathways for tumors that are refractory to current Immuno-Oncology and Oncology therapies and implement our discovery platforms across all of our therapeutic areas of focus. We are a fully integrated drug discovery through translational and early clinical development organization which exploits state-of-the-art in vitro, in vivo and ex-vivo models of cancer biology to identify and validate targets. We partner closely with colleagues in Translational Medicine, Informatics and Predictive Sciences and Early Clinical Development to generate biomarker and patient enrichment hypotheses to enable efficient decision making in early clinical trials. We are optimally positioned to complement the world-class translational expertise, biology and leading academic research centers in the area.We are seeking an individual with oncology drug discovery expertise to join the Discovery Biology team within the Mechanisms of Cancer Resistance Thematic Research Center (MoCR TRC) at Bristol-Myers Squibb in Cambridge, MA. The qualified candidate is a highly motivated, interactive, and creative scientist and with the ability to work across a highly matrixed organization to advance programs from target validation to lead optimization, selection of drug candidate and IND-enabling biology related activities. This individual will be dedicated to designing and executing experimental studies related to the decisional progress of our programs from early stages all the way through IND filling. The candidate will be involved in executing biology bench studies that will advance the understanding of mechanism of action as well as developing several screening funnel assays that will enable compound triaging and identification of potential drug candidate. In addition, the individual will work closely with the informatics and predictive science, translational research, and lead optimization teams to design/execute work related to patient stratification, identification of appropriate in vitro PD markers and assay development/transfer for miniaturization. In the role as a Senior Associate Scientist within Discovery Biology, the ideal candidate:• Uses current and new techniques to address mechanism of action; this can be either with the use of tool chemical compounds or via the generation of KDs or genetic KOs.• Applies extensive technical knowledge with various in vitro oncology assays (CTG, CyQuant, Incucyte time-lapse, co-culture assays, IF, western blot, IP, qPCR, flow cytometry etc.) to advance mechanism of action understanding and enable compound triaging.• Designs and executes molecular and cellular studies.• Collaborates with rest of biology team members as well as other functional area leads e.g. informatics and predictive science.• Presents data in lab meetings as well as full team project meetings.• Executes experiments independently, troubleshoot as needed, interpret, and discuss data.• Utilizes excellent communication and interpersonal skills.• Communicates via email, meetings, and reports.Basic Qualifications:• Bachelor’s Degree with• 2-5 years of academic and / or industry experience, industry experience is desired.Or• Master’s Degree with• 2 years of academic and / or industry experience, industry experience is desired.Preferred Qualifications:• Experience in oncology and some immune-oncology drug development (small molecule, degraders).• Proficient in performing laboratory work related but not limited to tissue culture, qPCR, western blot (including IP pool downs), multi-parametric flow cytometry, proliferation and tumor killing assays (CTG, CyQuant, MTS etc.), 2D/3D co-culture assays, ELISA, Alphalisa, Luminex, processing of DNA/RNA/protein.• Knowledge of expression modulation tools e.g. CRISPRs, shRNAs, siRNAs.• Experience in the design and development of cell-based assays using various technology platforms related to tumor cell populations.• Experience with usage of automation equipment (e.g. Tecan, Combi, Echo etc.).• Ability to conduct experimental work independently, with accurate, detailed record-keeping.• Ability to efficiently manage and prioritize multiple projects, coordinating in-house research with collaborative work.• Ability to summarize and interpret scientific data in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
