Overview:
APPOINTMENT TYPE: Full-Time Regular

LOCATION: Oak Ridge, TN or Remote (US Based Locations)

SALARY RANGE: $59,488.00 - $82,763.20

PURPOSE:
This position will support Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE)’s Workforce Development (WD) directorate by assisting with the execution and tracking of financial processes that support research participation programs (RPP). Developing and managing an expenditure reporting system that creates and delivers timely, accurate monthly or quarterly cost reports to RPP customers. Analyzing, researching, and implementing best practices for Strategic Partnership Project (SPP) programs. Applying project management principles to SPP programs, complementing support functions delivered by ORAU Financial Operations to SPP programs, and capturing lessons learned in order to standardize best practices.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with associate manager and project managers and verify information with financial analysts in order to track the financial processes that support research participation programs (RPP).
  • Compile, monitor and make available to next-level managers financial data such as funding, costs, revenues, burdens and other associated project costs to ensure effective funds control by RPP associate and project managers.
  • Develop and manage an expenditure reporting system that creates and delivers timely, accurate monthly or quarterly cost reports to RPP customers.
  • Support managers with creating a system that establishes processes that monitor program performance as required by the program’s contract deliverables, SPP statement of work, or other contractual requirements. Track and report achievement of those deliverables.
  • Create, prepare, and publish documents relevant to assigned programs, including but not limited to presentations, progress reports, milestone reports, and job aids for internal and external audiences.
  • Interact with internal and external customers and program sponsors.
  • Provide proactive customer service, research and resolve issues, and elevate issues to next-level management when required.
  • Follow-up to document lessons learned and standardize best practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business, scientific, technical, education or related field and 3-5 years of job-related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience performing duties as described may be substituted for the minimum requirements.
  • Experience with spreadsheets, computer databases, word processing programs, and email.
  • Experience working with financial and accounting matters.
  • Must have strong computer skills including being proficient in the use of MS Office Applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, and knowledge of Web publishing, SharePoint and database applications.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and above average grammar and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to relate to many different types of persons is required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate problem solving skills.
  • Must be self-directed and capable of organizing work, setting priorities, and handling large volumes of work under pressure.
  • Must be able to initiate and organize special projects.
  • Limited travel (1-5 times a year) may be required.
  • The candidate’s starting salary will be determined upon hire and ORAU will use salary survey data, internal comparators, and the candidate’s qualifications to determine salary.
