Business Analyst

The Business Analyst is responsible for the interpretation of business rules and requirements for technical systems, as well as evaluating the impact, return, and costs presented by process improvement opportunities. The Business Analyst participates in business planning, needs analysis, and business risk assessment, leads process redesign, and consults with the customers on how to best

support their areas through effective use of technology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Elicits requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business-process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, and task/workflow analysis
Critically evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, reconciles conflicts, decomposes high-level information into details, abstracts low-level information up to a general understanding, and distinguishes user requests from underlying true needs
Proactively communicates and collaborates with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements, and delivers the following artifacts as needed: Functional Requirements (Business Requirements Document), Use Cases, GUI, Screen/Interface designs
Successfully engages in multiple initiatives simultaneously
Works independently with users to define concepts under direction of Project Managers
Drives and challenges business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans
Serves as the liaison between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the software development team
Develops requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language
Collaborates with Developers and Subject Matter Experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs
Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or a related field, or six (6) years of relevant experience strongly preferred
Must be detail oriented and have excellent organizational skills
Must have the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work “hands on” in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Strong analytical and product management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
Strong computer proficiency required
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required
