A Brief Overview
Clean and sanitize animal caging and accessory equipment

What you will do

  • 1) Perform routine cleaning, descaling, and preventative maintenance on the cage washers and autoclaves, including checking and cleaning filters and spray manifolds.
  • 2) Process clean caging and accessory equipment appropriately, including putting bedding into cages and autoclaving cages and supplies.
  • 3) Assist in sanitation and decontamination in all areas of the facility.
  • 4) Understand and follow appropriate SOPs, safety procedures, and quality assurance guidelines.

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED Required

Skills and Abilities

  • Some knowledge of disinfectant use and operating knowledge of autoclaves, cagewashers, conveyer belts, bedding dispensers, bottle fillers and high pressure & steamcleaning devices preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) - American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) - within 24 months - Preferred or
  • Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) - American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) - within 24 months - Preferred or
  • Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) - American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) - within 24 months - Preferred
