PAY RANGE
The Target Pay Range for this position is $32.16-$39.33 hourly. The full Pay Range is $25.00-$46.49 hourly. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

SUMMARY
The Card Security Analyst I is responsible for performing analysis of card related data (both credit and debit) and provides research and reporting on fraud trends, losses, and actively works through mitigation efforts. This role also identifies fraudulent activity, locating compromised points of purchase and skimming patterns through research and analysis while working closely with law enforcement and retail merchants to mitigate exposure. The Card Security Analyst I will work with the Card Security Analyst II to analyze and identify fraud trends and recommend controls to mitigate loss, while working with Fraud Chargeback Specialists to optimize recovery efforts on existing disputes and fraud losses. This person is also responsible for monitoring BECU’s fraud detection systems for suspicious activity and working directly with members for any rebill and recovery opportunities.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU Competencies, compliance, regulatory and Information Protection requirements.

Maintain and analyze fraud alerts received from MasterCard and VISA.
-
Work through caseload with respect to both debit and credit systems for fraud dispute claims; providing stewardship and expertise for teammates to execute fraud loss recovery efforts.

Analyze fraud claims pipeline for potential of rebill; identifying and managing sensitive conversations with BECU members.

Monitor systems and propose strategies for the minimization of fraud across the card portfolio. Specifically identifying trends in losses within card landscape; channels, merchants, fraud schemes, skim attacks – to identify and recommend a strategy for immediate mitigation as well as future prevention.

Respond to and investigate reported fraud activity for MasterCard and VISA. Monitor department fraud detection system for suspicious debit card activity.

Partner with Card Security Analyst II to ensure prevention strategies are effectively implemented.

Maintain a good relationship, and work directly with law enforcement and financial industry contacts, while continuing to build contacts to assist in fraud related matters.

Maintain knowledge and understanding of Regulation E and Regulation Z and how these impact day to day operations.

Maintain an acceptable caseload through effective time management.

Complete all police, FBI and Secret Service reports in the proper jurisdiction.

Provide immediate response to possible violations including OFAC, CIP, USA Patriot Act, Bank Secrecy Act and Money Laundering.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work or educational experience required.
-
Minimum two years of experience in Security/Financial Institution required.
-
Willingness to work with data, understanding the fundamentals of fraud analysis to discover relevant fraud trends as inputs to operational mitigation and fraud prevention efforts.

High acumen for understanding debit and credit transaction processing lifecycle.
-
Skilled at working with fraud tools for both analytical purposes and operational work on a daily basis to manage recovery efforts and to keep fresh on trends, acting as a point of escalation for the team in absence of Card Analyst 2 availability.

Experience with card authentication and fraud prevention tools (e.g. Falcon) preferred.

Proficiency with current programs, analytic tools and techniques used by the card payment industry required.

Excellent organizational and Excel (spreadsheet) skills required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate and provide customer service required.

Proven experience preparing and analyzing data in a logical manner and summarizing findings to both a technical and non-technical audience.

Ability to converse and describe acts of fraud and suspect description with emergency personnel.

Full time hours required, with additional hours as necessary.
