CASHIER

OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY


Position ensures the prompt and accurate processing of customer transactions and various cash disbursements. The position requires the ability to effectively communicate with a broad range of customers. Perform complex clerical duties involved in custody of cash receipts, processing forms, counting money and preparing reports at the end of scheduled shifts for making deposits.


Responsibilities


Communicate and interact with all customers, including students, parents, visitors in a professional and tactful manner. Participate in customer service and cash register/money handling training; handle customer complaints by directing them to the appropriate stores management for resolution. Keep the area around the checkouts clean and organized.

Merchandise on the checkouts should be kept in an attractive manner. Assist in stocking the area immediately around the checkouts as needed and as available/directed by stores management. Ensure that hangers and size indicators are properly sorted and stored and that associates are informed that hangers/size indicators need to be transported to storage area. Communicate with sales floor personnel on merchandise ticketing problems/issues to ensure that the problems are fixed on an ongoing basis. Keep cashier drawers neat and clean/organized and make sure to keep bags and other supplies in stock at all times.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education: Basic mathematical and clerical principles generally acquired through a high school education.


Experience: Three years of cashier and retail store experience.
