Join our Madison, WI team as a Category Insights Analyst! In this role, you will be responsible for strategically gathering and interpreting category data across retail channels to support decisions related to sales, marketing, distribution, category development and operational goals. Through a deep understanding of cycling categories, customer expectations and behaviors, the Category Insights Analyst complies and presents in depth business insights and analytics to promote Pacific Cycle and Category growth, to guide the organizational strategy and choices.

This role is based out of our Madison, WI corporate office and is eligible to participate in the company's Hybrid office policy.

How You'll Contribute:

  • Compiles, interprets, and presents category and customer specific insights and analytics to identify and guide growth potential via category insights.
  • Deliver actionable insights around pricing, promotion, and distribution of our brands.
  • Analyze and develop insights on industry trends and opportunities
  • Manage monthly reporting of meaningful Insights into Actions in collaboration with broader Business Insights team.
  • Implement solutions, measure, and communicate results.
  • Mine category, shopper, consumer, and industry data to develop impactful insights and identify opportunities.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis as defined by the Manager of Category Insights and the broader leadership team.
  • Establish best practice reporting and lead report updates.
  • Enhance Pacific Cycle's reporting tools.
  • Develop regular Category Management-focused insights materials, inclusive of Category reviews, Macro trends, Cycling trends, competitor brand evaluations, Channel Strategies, and Industry Summaries.
  • Create meaningful reports using multiple data sources like IRI, Nielsen, Shopper Panel data, and Shipment data to help support overall goals across the Sales and Marketing organizations.
  • Support impactful insight communication platforms to our organization.
  • Build, influence, and use relationships across Business Insights and the broader Sales and Marketing organizations to share best practices and resources.
  • Plays a key role in annual budget process and forecast accuracy
  • Ad Hoc reporting as needed
  • Development of presentations and storylines for Sales Management

What You Bring to the Table:

This role typically requires at least 3-5 years of Category Management and or Sales Analysis with major Mass Merchants.

  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing or Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience in hard goods or sporting goods preferred.
  • Experience with creating fact-based selling stories.
  • Knowledge of the consumer goods industry including class of trade, consumer groups, category, competitive products, competitive strategy, and industry trends.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, "self-starter" environment serving as a catalyst for change and managing multiple work streams simultaneously.
  • The ability to understand and explain complex issues, but also clearly identify and communicate the situation at a high level.
  • The ability to use and understand financial and numerical data to make decisions and influence outcomes.
  • Exhibit professional initiative and entrepreneurial drive.
  • Experience with MS Excel at an advanced level. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong planning, organizing and project management skills with focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and manage ever-changing priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player: readily willing to assist other departments and/or colleagues when needed.
  • Must be able to carry out assignments with minimal supervision
