Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation (BTCF) seeks a dynamic,
inspirational President who will advance its mission to build
stronger, more equitable communities through philanthropy and
leadership. Each year, BTCF delivers between $15 and $20 million in
transformative grants to the unique tri-state, four-county regionwhere Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York meet. The Foundationsuccessfully connects donors with the causes they care about, leadscounty and regional efforts, supports nonprofit capacity building,and provides vision and leadership to tackle defining local andregional issues.BTCF is a prominent philanthropic partner, convener, andcatalyst for the Berkshire Taconic region, advancing educationalattainment, deepening community engagement, and enhancing economicopportunity. Like most community foundations, BTCF offers a varietyof fund types that allow donors and organizations to buildcharitable resources and make grants and other awards to achievetheir philanthropic goals. The Foundation has also establishedpermanently endowed funds to address issue- and geography-specificneeds. This has resulted in the creation of 10 area funds,education enrichment funds serving every school district in theregion, and the Equity Fund, launched in 2023.BTCF prudently stewards its financial resources through adiversified, actively managed portfolio with long-term strategiesthat maximize grantmaking and preserve and grow philanthropiccapital for the future. BTCF has enjoyed excellent investmentperformance and experienced notable growth over the past decade,increasing its combined assets from $130 million in 2016 to over$225 million at the end of 2023. Last year, these funds distributedover $17.5 million in grants, scholarships, and other awards.BTCF is supported by 22 knowledgeable staff and a dedicated21-member board of directors. Its FY2023 operating budget was $3.3million. BTCF serves 70 towns, three cities, over 245,000residents, and 2,200 square miles across Berkshire County, MA,Columbia County, NY, northeast Dutchess County, NY, and northwestLitchfield County, CT.BTCF’s next President will be driven by an authentic passion forthe Foundation's mission, with a particular dedication to expandingequity and quality of life in the rural communities of thetri-state region. They will bring strategic vision and agility,management aptitude, investment and financial know-how, and ademonstrated ability to lead and animate an organization that hasexperienced tremendous growth. They will enhance BTCF’s role as alocal and regional leader and sharpen its long-term programmaticand financial direction to be responsive to community and donorpriorities. Results- and relationship-oriented, the President willconnect with and galvanize various stakeholders, cultivate currentand new donors, build strategic partnerships, and lead communityengagements. Reporting to and working closely with the board, thePresident will ensure that BTCF is fiscally and administrativelysound and that programs, the organizational structure, andinvestment activities are effectively managed.
