OVERVIEW
The CDC Foundation is seeking a Health Resource Analyst I (HRA I) who under general supervision, will assist the Nevada Office of State Epidemiology (OSE) in data management for the Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) and Hepatitis Programs, and work with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas to provide support for the Nevada Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (NvCLPPP).
The HRA’s will spend 50% of time on STD/Hepatitis and 50% of time on lead poisoning activities. The core functions of the position will be to compile health statistics and health care information to determine areas of unmet health needs; develop a statewide blood lead level dashboard; prepare concise and accurate written reports on STD and Hepatitis; participate in meetings concerning health issues; and assist the STD/Hepatitis Program Manager on other related activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•Bachelor's degree in the health sciences, public administration, social sciences or closely related field and two years of experience in the health/social sciences or related field which involved analysis of health data, identification of health care needs, and the development of health care reports, policies and programs;
•Strong analytical skills with the ability to think critically and solve complex problems
•Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders
•Demonstrated organizational skills exhibiting high attention to detail and the ability to organize multiple priorities
•Experience working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and engaging in strategic partnerships
•Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Master of Public Health (MPH) or a closely related field from an accredited college or university
•Proficiency in writing comprehensive statistical and analytical reports
•Excellent written and oral communications
•Experience developing data dashboards and data quality and assurance plans
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Participate in the NvCLPPP Advisory Committee
• Submit monthly blood lead data reports for the state to UNLV
• Develop a mechanism for providers to report batch data electronically
• Create a statewide blood lead level dashboard
• Maintain a blood lead surveillance system that collects and tracks:
- All blood lead test results and demographic information as required by NRS
- Maintain or update lead risk screening questions
- Track case management through case closure
- Track environmental investigation data
- Track referrals made to families and their outcomes
• Maintain and update a data quality and assurance plan
• Respond to rural cases defined as children above 3.5 µg/dL
- Collect demographic variables as required by NRS, which must include at minimum zip code, gender, age, race/ethnicity, insurance status (Medicaid or not), and blood lead level result
- Provide education to parents and providers
- Refer cases to medical, environmental, and social services
- Conduct follow-up to document whether referrals were received
- Coordinate environmental investigations as needed
•Compile data annually for STD “Fast Facts” and Epidemiological Profiles
•Complete outbreak and elimination plans for Hepatitis
•Work with the STD/Hepatitis Program Manager to perform quality assurance on data reported to the state and within OSE’s EpiTrax system.
•Contribute to reports needed for legislative priorities
•Liaise with DPBH’s Office of Analytics for data requests
•PHA’s typical office hours Monday – Friday 8:00 AM PT – 5:00 PM PT
•Travel as Required
