Intern - Backend Development (Python & SQL)

About the Role:
Centennial Technologies is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Backend Development Intern to join our dynamic product team. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to work on impactful projects, focusing on backend development using Python and SQL to support scalable, efficient, and secure digital systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and domain experts to contribute to backend application development.
• Assist in building, maintaining, and optimizing backend services, APIs, and databases.
• Support performance, reliability, and security initiatives across backend systems.
• Integrate third-party APIs and external services as required.
• Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to documentation and test coverage.
• Participate in peer reviews and adopt best practices in software engineering.
• Assist in identifying and troubleshooting backend bugs or performance issues.
• Learn to deploy and monitor backend systems in cloud or local development environments.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Academic or project-based experience in backend development.
• Proficiency in Python (Flask or Django) and SQL (PostgreSQL or MySQL).
• Familiarity with RESTful API development and integration.
• Understanding of backend architecture, security, and clean coding practices.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.
• Experience with Git and version control workflows.
• Understanding of secure coding practices and application architecture principles.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with Docker or containerization tools.
• Coursework or experience in data structures, algorithms, or database design.
• Exposure to cloud infrastructure (Azure).
• Experience with OpenAI and Azure OpenAI.
