Overview

As the Certification & Compliance Coordinator, you will be an integral link between the Residents, Fellow Teachers, and our partnership schools. This will be a part-time role. As the Certification & Compliance Coordinator, you will play an integral role as part of the City Teaching Alliance's dynamic Data & Certification Team. Reporting directly to the Data and Certification Officer for the DC Site, your primary responsibility will be to provide collaborative support to Residents and Fellow Teachers, guiding them through the process of earning their teaching certification and fulfilling program entry requirements. Additionally, you will assist in ensuring that all necessary employment prerequisites are met for our partnership schools.


Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Program Support & Documentation
    • Collaborate with the AmeriCorps, Admissions, and Recruitment Team to collect and organize documentation required for program-related enrollment.
    • Provide timely and professional follow-up communications to teacher applicants and participants regarding their documentation status.
    • Support applicants by addressing their questions and concerns related to the documentation process.
  • School Clearance Coordination
    • Host School Clearance Sessions for New Residents, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
    • Collect and review the necessary documentation for teachers to work within our partner schools.
    • Identify any potential flags or issues hindering employment compliance and take appropriate action to resolve them.
    • Maintain regular communication with teacher applicants to update them on the status of their school clearance process.
  • Certification Support
    • Assist in organizing and hosting professional development sessions for Residents & Fellows in collaboration with the Data & Certification Officer.
    • Communicate with resident teachers regarding Praxis II Testing Requirements and other necessary documents.
    • Provide guidance and support to ensure teachers meet certification requirements promptly.
  • Data Entry & Analysis
    • Support the completion of documentation related to employment verifications, resignations, and leave of absence, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established systems
    • Responsible for maintaining a data management checklist on a biweekly basis to ensure data compliance and integrity.
    • Support team with requests for survey dissemination, data analysis and visualization as needed

Target Start Date: September 2023


Location: Washington, DC, Hybrid (On-site in DC at least once a month for programming)


Time Commitment & Compensation: $28.81 & is subject to a geographic differential which could increase or decrease it by 4% or 8% depending on city of residence. We are an anti-racist organization that prioritizes equity so we do not negotiate salaries.


Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills to excel in the role.

  • Associates Degree or higher
  • 2+ Years of Work experience (including internships)
  • Passionate about Education and supporting New Teachers
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Experience with HR & Customer Service
  • Experience with Salesforce is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • A willingness to learn and be a team player in a fast-paced environment
