Overview

 

 

Provides bioinformatics leadership, analysis and software development support to enable interpretation of molecular and genomic data for research projects. Works with the Director of Biostatistics and Epidemiology Core to design and develop analytical solutions that integrate with and augment existing informatics capability within the research institute.  Works directly with individuals to define computational strategies and assist with experimental design and hypothesis generation for molecular and genomic studies.  Performs in-depth analysis for research projects.  Assists with personnel management as needed with a focus on leading efforts within a defined research project. Educates the research community on bioinformatic analysis and concepts. Contributes to manuscripts and abstracts and effectively presents research results in internal and external settings.

If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Perform supervised and independent scientific analysis utilizing expertise in analysis of genomic data and knowledge of best practices
  • Design and develop bioinformatics capability including data analysis pipelines, knowledgebases, user interfaces, algorithms and databases to support research projects.
  • Lead bioinformatics efforts within a defined project.
  • Report research results.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computational Biology, Biology or Biostatistics and 8+ years' experience. Linux or other Unix operating system; Java, C# or C++; Perl, python or ruby scripting language; Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biostatistics, Computational Biology or Biology or
  • Master's Degree related field of study. and 10+ years' experience.

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. Your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

 

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children’s Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
