Pediatric Rec Therapy Assisant (Part Time)

 We're adding an Inpatient Pediatric Rec Therapy Assistant to our team to support child development and great life activities through one-on-one time and group activities in our inpatient programs. In this role, you will help kids experience great life moments like prom, trick or treating, graduation, and talent shows, and attend community outings like fishing, trips to the park and even the Iowa State Fair!
Wage

$14-16/hr based on experience.

Schedule
Part time scheduling Monday- Friday during typical business hours, with the occasional Saturday. 

What You'll Do
  • Care: Implement developmentally appropriate individual and group activities according to the care plans, recreational therapist and Child Life Specialist.  Provide positive and developmentally appropriate interaction, treating all children/young adults with dignity and respect.  Assist with planning and implementing special events, holidays, birthday, and outings.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely records according to ChildServe policy.
  • Communication: Communicate with all children/young adults, team members, and families in a courteous and professional manner.  Communicate with Recreational Therapist and Child Life Specialist closely regarding activities provided.  
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team regarding the child/young adult’s activities and schedule in order to provide the optimal level of support.
  • Environment:  Provide and maintain a therapeutic environment for care and treatment. Clean toys, equipment, and play areas according to infection control procedures. Reports environmental problems to appropriate staff.

What You'll Need

  • One year of college education in Early Childhood or Child Development required, Associates in one of these areas preferred.
  • Preferred: Minimum of one year of experience serving children or adults with disabilities.
  • Ability to work independently with basic verbal and written instructional guidance from others.
  • Maintain positive working relationships and demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse population.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with others, both verbally and in writing, and foster effective relationships with co-workers, children, and families.
  • Ability to accept and initiate change, have patience and understanding, and work within a team environment.
  • Must exercise confidentiality regarding the affairs of clients, staff, their families, and Child
  • Lift up to 35lbs, be mobile within the clinic areas, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
  • Ability to communicate in English effectively for understanding, in writing and verbally.
