Blue Man Group New York at the Astor Place Theater is seeking a full-time Deck 2 lead crew member within the Props department. This is a full-time hourly position with a pay rate of $26/hour and a competitive benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, Life Insurance and 401K.
Deck crew members are responsible for a variety of duties within the department and company. The Deck 2 Lead position works an average of 35 hours per week, providing the majority of show and rehearsal coverage on the Deck 2 track, as well as supporting the Props Supervisor with daytime work calls. Due to show schedules, candidate must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays. All employees are encouraged to attend full company meetings. Strong communication and theatrical props skills (basic troubleshooting, prop repair, construction, etc;) required. This position reports directly to the Props Supervisor.
Lead responsibilities include attending meetings, ensuring show coverage and staffing for the Deck 2 track, serving as the go-to person to cover Deck 2 in emergency situations, and facilitatingclear communication of notes amongst the Stage Manager, the Props Supervisor and part-time Deck Crew members. Strong people management skills required.
Show responsibilities include performing preset duties, executing show cues as well as turnover & post show duties in a safe, professional, and timely manner. The Deck 2 Lead will work an average of 6/7 shows per week on the Deck 2 track. Deck crew members regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. This position also requires frequent stair usage, and periodic crouching/crawling.
