FTE: 25-30 hours a week until September 1. Contract ends September 1.
JOB SUMMARY: The Center for Intercultural Student Development (CISD) Program Specialists position works with all student populations and specifically domestic students of color, international students, and first-generation college students by planning and implementing the CISD programs that focus on building intentional community, multicultural programming, academic success, leadership development, mentorship, retention, and campus-wide anti-racism initiatives. This position will also provide direct student care to students who need more extensive support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned):

Contribute to a welcoming, hospitable office environment, to which students are attracted, feel nurtured and are encouraged to develop academically, socially, and spiritually through regular one on one meetings, group events, and educational programs.

Support Orientation programming

CISD OA Training
-
Impact Orientation

Parent Programs

International Orientation
-
Help with Food Pantry as needed.

Skill Requirements

Expertise in utilizing best practices to serve diverse populations

Experience leading and facilitating DEIB trainings Emotional Intelligence around one’s own cultural identify formation and self-care

Experience in developing programs that mentor students

Excels in providing 1-1 mentoring to students who need an extra level of support, culturally or emotionally

Winsome articulation of Calvin University’s commitment to biblical antiracism

Extensive experience in social media posting, story and reel creation

Respect for and adherence to Calvin branding and marketing approval protocols

Demonstrated excellence in supervising student workers and student leaders

Comfortability with flexible work schedule, including some weekend and evening work responsibilities
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree required, with preference for academic and/or professional experience in a human services-oriented field (e.g., social work, human development, student development, etc.).

The work in this position is performed within routine office conditions, usually without exposure to hazardous or unpleasant conditions.
