The Fire Department, City of New York (FDNY), seeks a full time Investigator Employee Compliance in the Bureau of Legal Affairs/ Substance Testing Unit. Reporting directly to the Director of Substance Testing Unit the successful candidate will: Travel to various field locations and FDNY facilities for the purpose of performing drug/alcohol testing of FDNY personnel. The Unit's operations take place in a field setting. Conduct several types of drug/ alcohol tests by performing urinalysis or hair testing methods. Complete administrative tasks including but not limited to field preparation by gathering data, report writing to summarize field events, sample releasing to the courier, toxicology result processing, re-test applications, case files preparation, record review, phone inquiries. Input testing information utilizing the unit's computer applications. Will be required to have knowledge of the unit's Drug and Alcohol collecting testing procedures (SOPs), chain of custody process, Department's drug testing policies. Work in close coordination with Bureau of Health Services and Bureau of Investigations and Trials. Testify at hearings and court proceedings as needed. Must be available to work NIGHT AND WEEKEND SHIFTS to accommodate operational needs. Driver’s License is required.
1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and four years of
satisfactory full-time experience in one or more of the fields of accounting,
auditing, correction administration, criminal justice administration and planning,
forensic science, and security, or in a major operational area of the employing
agency; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above
