Job Description

Hours: Full-Time – 35 Hours
Work Location: 30-30 Thomson Avenue, LIC, NY 11101

Only candidates who are currently probable permanent in the Civil Engineering Intern title, or those who are reachable on the Open-Competitive List (Exam #9036 or #2009), or those who filed for the Open-Competitive Exam #5047 may apply. Please include a copy of your Notice of Results, Receipt of Filing or indicate if you are already probable permanent in the title. If you do not meet the previously mentioned civil service criteria, you will not be considered for an interview.

The Department of Design & Construction, Division of Infrastructure, is currently seeking a Junior Engineer to join our Engineering Services’ Specifications team.

Successful candidate will be provided with hands-on training and will contribute to a range of engineering tasks, from moderate to complex. Responsibilities include conducting research studies, engineering investigations, and assessments related to various engineering functions.

Additionally, the candidate will carry out civil engineering tasks of moderate complexity under the supervision of a Deputy Director. The scope of work and training encompasses one or more of the following specialized areas: design, drafting, engineering investigations, cost estimation, specification writing, structural calculations, conducting field surveys, and participating in design-related site inspections.

Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position. NYC Department of Design and Construction does not provide sponsorship for international employees for visa applications, extensions, or status changes, including STEM/OPT visas. 1. A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college. A degree in any other engineering area or in civil engineering technology is not acceptable.
