ABOUT THE OFFICE: The Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ) advises the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for Public Safety on criminal justice policy and is the mayor’s representative to the courts, district attorneys, defenders, and state criminal justice agencies, among others. The office designs, deploys and evaluates citywide strategies to drive down crime, reduce unnecessary arrests and incarceration, and improve the system’s fairness. MOCJ works with law enforcement and city agencies, non-profits, foundations, and others to implement data-driven strategies that address current crime conditions, prevent offending, and build the strong neighborhoods that ensure enduring safety.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: Ability to work under pressure and meet restrictive deadlines, in an atmosphere of intense activity, and be able to elicit the same from subordinate staff. - Strong knowledge of the Procurement and Sourcing Solutions Portal (PASSPort) system, Vendex, the Financial Management System (FMS) and Public Procurement Posting System (PPPS), to retrieve and compile data into reports as required. - Strong interpersonal skills which allow for effective direct communication with MOCJ officials, agency staff and oversight agencies to which the office relates. - Strong knowledge of the Procurement Policy Board (PPB) Rules and the NYC Charter as it relates to the oversight approval process. - Excellent analytical ability & research skills. - Possess problem solving, prevention and resolution skills. - Excellent writing and computer skills
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of NYC Procurement Rules highly preferred, including use of FMS and PASSPort. Ability to independently work, manage, and prioritize multiple tasks and projects. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills (including Microsoft office Suite proficiency).
PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS: Local travel may be required. Carrying and use of equipment may be necessary.
