To support this work, Seattle Center currently employs 220 full-time employees and hundreds of intermittent workers. In 2023 Seattle Center is expanding its role to provide operations, maintenance and public safety services for Seattle's new Waterfront Park, a series of new public spaces on Seattle's downtown waterfront between Pioneer Square and the Seattle Aquarium. Seattle Center will bring its deep experience successfully managing public space to the waterfront. As a department of the City of Seattle, Seattle Center contributes to the quality of life for Seattle residents-and the region's economy and image as its top visitor destination. About this Position: We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team in the Seattle Center Programs and Events division. This team facilitates most of the organized public assemblage activities that take place on the campus. This position works closely with community-based non-profit organizations, partners and internal producers to plan and produce various arts and civic events, including exhibits, festivals, and related projects, as well as facilitating a wide range of commercial events and activations. Working with Seattle Center staff, artists and event producers, this position will identify event needs, liaise between and support post-event reporting and settlement. The position works a minimum 20 hours/week with a variable schedule up to approximately 30 hours/week (averaged over the course of the year) and reports to the Campus and Event Servicing Manager. Job Responsibilities Create event orders and disseminate information about specific event requirements to all Seattle Center divisions and work groups. Coordinate and direct Seattle Center personnel engaged in providing event services and support including stage, sound, maintenance, security, and admissions staff. Provide referrals for services not available through Center staff; and informs clients of policies, procedures and capabilities of facilities and staff. Oversee schedules, coordination of labor and public safety practices and measures. Act as event liaison with Seattle Police and Fire Departments. Determine and prepare event service cost estimates for clients; compile data and determine costs for services in collaboration with Seattle Center program managers; prepare post-event billing. Work effectively in strong cross-functional relationships within Seattle Center. Monitor other campus events as an occasional Duty Manager for Seattle Center. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in facility management, theater production or business, and a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration, Theater Arts (or a combination of education and/or training and/or work experience which provides the ability to perform the work of the class). You will be successful in this role if you have: Exceptional organizational skills, are detail oriented and adept at solving problems under pressure while maintaining composure and interacting with others in a positive and respectful manner. Knowledge of and experience in the event management industry including extensive experience with conference, trade/consumer shows, concerts, large scale walks and runs, community run festivals and large campus wide multi-disciplinary event. Unflappable professionalism and are adept at problem solving under pressure. A high level of cultural awareness and sensitivity. The ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a wide range of individuals, interacting with others in a positive, respectful and productive manner. Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience with Visio and AutoCAD are preferred and the ability to learn it is required. The ability to learn and use in-house event management system. The availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed. Excellent communication skills both verbal and in writing. Excellent customer service skills. Work Environment/Physical Demands: Requires extended periods of walking and standing. Must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Additional Information This position is currently budgeted for 30 hours/week. The full pay range for this step-progression position is $35. 74 - $41. 66 per hour. New employees begin at Step 1 of the pay progression, which is $35. 74 hourly. Current City employees' starting rate of pay will be based on Personnel Rules regarding promotions.
