Senior Engineering Technician

As a Senior Engineering Technician (Electrical) at Grounded, you will utilize your knowledge, experience, craftsmanship and creativity to build beautiful and functional RV components for our customers. You will pioneer new designs and manufacturing techniques to push the envelope of RV construction and aesthetics. You are experienced in many different types of assembly and fabrication but are specifically skilled in wiring, harnessing, prototyping and electrical systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the fabrication of prototype and production hardware, including electrical wiring, testing, electromechanical assembly, plumbing and basic power tools.
  • Prototype custom systems and parts for our modular mechanical and electric systems, focusing on optimizing electrical reliability and robustness.
  • Reading, interpreting and writing engineering drawings, giving feedback on design and manufacturability improvements.
  • Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions. Assist in writing documentation for builds and designs when needed.
  • Skilled in using construction and mechanical hand and power tools, as well as measurement tools.
  • Design basic tools, jigs, fixtures, etc and fabricate them where needed.
  • Support building and maintenance of the shop, including specifying equipment and tools, floor layout, and commissioning tools/machines.
  • Help to establish the company's safety culture, manufacturing processes, and high quality bar.

  • Must be willing to relocate to the Detroit area if not already nearby
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of combined experience in prototype fabrication and/or shop experience, or equivalent
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 45lbs unassisted

  • Ability to both read and create engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrated prototyping and quick iteration experience.
  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
  • Experience with a wide variety of equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment.
