GM Design's Advanced Studio in North Hollywood, California is looking for a Clay Sculptor, to create clay models by developing aesthetic surfaces, which meet time and quality requirements as directed by Sculpting Leadership for assigned programs. In this role, you will contribute to problem solving by collaborating with design and engineering partners. You will assist in the mentoring of other sculptors. You will contribute to the creation of new modeling practices and procedures with occasional demonstrations.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
· Exhibit a safety mentality while identifying, taking ownership, and resolving safety concerns
· Develop surfaces by hand for physical clay models
· Support surface releases which meet design approval, production engineering, and data release requirements
· Understand program timelines and all relating model quality requirements
· Adhere to common GM Global Design processes / best practices
· Mentor others occasionally to achieve modeling standards and technical ability
· Support studio personnel in the development of solutions to engineering and design challenges
· Attend appropriate program related meetings as defined by Sculpting Leadership
· Perform assessment of surface quality (clay or digital)
· Adhere to corporate data management processes (TeamCenter, SharePoint etc.) and communication systems (timekeeping, email etc.)
· Ask for and anticipate customer needs; make all business decisions to support those needs

Skills and Abilities:
· Showcases high level of creativity and problem-solving skills
· Strong sketch interpretation skills and ability to translate design input into 3D models
· Proficient in the use of creative clay or digital modeling equipment
· Ability to successfully incorporate engineering criteria into a design theme
· Demonstrates courage to make changes that will improve the organization, and help others overcome their resistance to change
· Functional knowledge in the use of current office software (Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.)
· Ability to work independently and with others
· Seeks opportunities for innovation by executing on the latest ideas and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
Education and/or Training:
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry related experience required
