The Role
As a Lab Assistant, you’ll partner with our Lab Team to assist in the general operations of the lab. You’ll perform administrative and clerical duties such as cleaning and sterilizing equipment, unboxing and sorting samples, and logging data to ensure the laboratory is well-stocked and maintained in an orderly condition. You’re a versatile team player who's able to float effortlessly between tasks to create a productive lab environment.

We are looking for a Lab Assistant with availability Monday-Saturday, from 9am - 1:30pm PT; our lab is located in Dogpatch, San Francisco.

What You'll Do:

    • Assist with the unboxing and sorting of fully boxed incoming patient samples received by the lab
    • Monitor and ensure sufficient inventory of laboratory supplies (non-analyzer consumables, supplies, ordering consumables, etc.)
    • Maintain work area and cleanliness of laboratory facilities including removing trash from the facility
    • Perform routine cleaning, sterilization, and upkeep of laboratory equipment including cleaning centrifuges, weekly bleaching/ decon of racks, freezer defrosting maintenance
    • Manage and organize the laboratory’s records and documents (temp sensor upload on google drive, review temp logs, etc.)
    • When needed, assemble and install laboratory storage racks, chairs, tables, and similar duties
    • Escalates issues or concerns to clinical laboratory associate or technical/general supervisor
    • Follow all safety procedures, policies, precautions, and Quality Assurance
    • Other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring to the Team:

    • Long periods of standing, working repetitively with your hands, must be able to bend at the waist and knee, occasionally lifting up to 15 lbs
    • Must be comfortable donning and doffing personal protective equipment (nitrile gloves) with the handling and processing of blood samples
    • Familiarity with word processing and data analysis tools (eg. Google Suite - Docs, Drive, Sheets, etc.)
    • Curiosity to gain exposure into lab operations
    • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
    • Ability to think quickly and work autonomously
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Attention to detail, ability to complete repetitive tasks accurately

Bonus Point:

    • At least 1 year of related experience working in a CLIA/CAP or similarly regulated healthcare environment is preferred
The hourly rate for new hires in this position is $22. When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. These considerations may cause your compensation to vary.

Ro recognizes the power of in-person collaboration, while supporting the flexibility to work anywhere in the United States. For our Ro’ers in the tri-state (NY) area, you will join us at HQ on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For those outside of the tri-state area, you will be able to join in-person collaborations throughout the year (i.e., during team on-sites).
