About The Role
Almost all Credit Unions still rely on a workflow processing tool to “work a loan.” This involves reviewing underwriting criteria, managing loan documents and checklists, and booking to Core. These systems are often the 2nd or 3rd largest software expenditure within the organization, and much of the other lending infrastructure is built around this system.

What you'll do:

Within 3 months, you will:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the existing workflow processing tools, from underwriting criteria to loan booking.

  • Shadow loan officers, funders, and processors to immerse yourself in the day-to-day lending operations, learning all "jobs to be done" across the building.

  • Begin decomposing the system into valuable sub-components, identifying areas for immediate and phased improvements.

  • Establish relationships with key internal stakeholders to form the foundation of a coalition for the transformation.

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Build a coalition of Credit Unions across varying asset sizes who are willing to collaborate on this initiative.

  • Develop a roadmap to deliver incremental value, outlining the sub-components that can be built in a phased approach while balancing long-term goals with short-term economics.

  • Collaborate with loan officers and senior executives to validate your roadmap, ensuring alignment with operational needs and larger business objectives.

  • Start designing the early stages of the open platform, ensuring it has the flexibility to accommodate future sub-components.

Within 9 months, you will:

  • Begin implementation of the first sub-component, targeting quick wins that demonstrate tangible value to stakeholders.

  • Regularly gather feedback from users (loan officers, funders, processors) to iterate and improve the system design.

  • Establish a framework to manage the long tail of features embedded in the existing system, while maintaining focus on future builds.

  • Build momentum and confidence within the coalition to take on larger, more complex sub-components, setting the stage for further platform expansion.
