Its strength lies in providing a multitude of comprehensive business solutions in the areas of supply chain, merchandising, stores, e-commerce, and retail analytics. The Retail practice has made significant investment in building IP to create the "future of shopping" by leveraging technologies around mobility, cloud, and analytics.


THE ROLE

The Retail Market Maker heads strategy, market development sales acceleration and alliances for the Retail Business Unit for Cognizant. This leader will work with velocity to develop the go-to market strategy for Cognizant’s Retail brand, get involved in our big ideas, create and expand the market and have a POV on the future of retail. This person will have a Rolodex of relationships with industry Chief Technology and Chief Marketing Officers; a Retail Industry leader and trusted partner with a wealth of experience and who knows the industry inside and out.

This role will report directly to the SVP, Retail Head for the Americas.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for defining the long term Vision (North Star) and 3 year Go to Market strategy for the Retail market.
  • Responsible for defining the Business Unit’s strategic imperatives (objectives) for FY24 and the strategic business unit level scorecards with Manage by Objectives goals.
  • Facilitation of annual strategy planning effort working with Ops, Marketing, Finance, service lines and accounts. Ensuring downstream account planning aligned with Market strategy and imperatives.
  • Responsible for leading and leveraging the Business Unit strategy and business development team offshore.
  • Responsible for defining and implementing the external partner ecosystem strategy for Retail Go to Market across Hyperscalers, ISVs etc
  • Responsible for bringing together the Internal ecosystem (marketing, sales, pre-sales, industry solutions) and drive efforts externally to support market growth through net new logo acquisition, proactive solution offerings, targeted industry focused campaigns and strategic growth account development.

o Externally:

    • Develop, deliver and co-present GTM strategy to analyst community
    • Develop, deliver and co-present GTM strategy to external platform alliances (Hyperscalers, industry specific partners).
    • Creation/facilitation of industry thought leadership, POV’s and articles/content for external consumption.
    • BU Representation at industry & analyst events / conferences.
    • Generate new sales leads due to connects in external forums, relationships and thought leadership inquiries.

o Internally:

    • Work with Business Unit marketing on branding, messaging for both external and internal communications.
    • Researching and analyzing customer needs and market trends.
    • Creation/facilitation of industry thought leadership, POV’s and articles/content across service lines for internal consumption.
    • Manage alliance partner relationships for industry vertical solutions and offerings
    • Develop and drive GTM around integrated industry solutions working across service lines.
    • Design and drive Sales Acceleration for the Business Unit with a focus on Big Deal pipeline generation and conversion.
    • Work with Sales ops to establish and run monthly and quarterly Business Unit pipeline reviews including large deals.
    • Develop and embed sales intelligence within the Go to Market efforts transforming the business unit into a data driven, growth mindset organization. Ensure design and leverage of sales dashboards with real time views into pipeline health and performance against Business Unit Strategic Objectives.
    • Develop and maintain industry sales playbooks and other collateral leveraging the strategy, business development, consulting and marketing teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of retail strategy experience, strategy or management consulting preferred
  • MBA strongly preferred

LOCATION

This role can be worked from anywhere in the US with a preference for the East Coast.

SALARY & OTHER COMPENSATION

The annual salary for this position is between $246,200 to $280,740 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
