Key member of the Market Regulation Department of Coinbase Derivatives, LLC (CDE) - a CFTC-registered designated contract market - responsible for reviewing potential/ alleged violations of CDE’s rulebook and applicable CFTC regulations. Works closely with the CDE’s Chief Regulatory Officer and members of MRD to impartially enforce CDE’s rules by monitoring trade activity of CDE participants, analyzing alerts generated by CDE’s trade surveillance system, and initiating investigations for potential market disruptions and trading violations.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

Investigate trade practice violations, such as spoofing, wash trading, money pass activity, front running, fraud and deceptive practices, and other disruptive trading activity by participants on CDE to ensure participants are compliant with CDE’s rulebook and all applicable CFTC regulations
Work closely with CDE Market Regulation Department to identify and fully address violations that require heightened review
Create investigative reports and maintain compliance with recordkeeping requirements for inquiries and investigations stemming from trade surveillance alerts
Escalate and provide updates/ presentations to Chief Regulatory Officer, CDE Board, CDE Regulatory Oversight Committee for matters related to trade activity on CDE in accordance with CDE rules and procedures

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

3+ years experience in providing market and trade surveillance support for CFTC-registered entities
Sound understanding of market fundamentals, trading practices, investigative and surveillance techniques, and derivatives trading practice rules
Strong analytical and writing skills to document observations, findings, and assessments in written memoranda and reports
Ability to engage comfortably with internal and stakeholders of all levels including various regulators
Attention to detail, willingness to roll up sleeves and meet tight deadlines, ability to simultaneously manage multiple assignments with cross functional stakeholders

Nice to haves:

Experience working with CFTC, NFA, FCMs, DCMs, DCOs
Futures trading experience

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include target bonus + target equity + benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).

Pay Range:

$108,630—$127,800 USD
