On Call Residential Assistant

The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.


The position seeks to foster a culture of excellent customer service and assisting in the safety and security of the residents, staff, and property of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless transitional housing locations. This position is also responsible for facility-oriented duties including but not limited to: laundry, serving  meals  for residents, auditing files, washing dishes, reporting of occurring events, completing safety zones, daily attendance, and data entry. These roles are located at various Transitional Housing Department sites across the Denver Metro area.

Essential Job Functions 
  • Employee must be able to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat to safety or health of self or others.   • Provides excellent, trauma-informed customer service to residents, colleagues, and external partners. 
  • Remains onsite, awake, and available throughout all shifts. 
  • Supports facility cleanliness, safety, and operations, as directed by shift checklists, case managers, and management team (i.e., sorting mail, laundry, preparing breakfast, tracking daily attendance, crisis intervention, de-escalation, incident reporting etc.). 
  • All staff cross trained in kitchen/meal preparation. Duties assigned could include cooking, serving, or dishes/clean up after meal.  
  • Reviews and monitors resident files and roster to ensure all documentation is present, alerts Program Manager of any deficiencies, and maintains the organization of the closed files. 
  • Communicates effectively with other staff through multiple means, including email, data entry, safety zone, incident reporting, etc. 
  • Observes proper attendance protocol per CCH & department policies.  
  • Attending all required staff meetings. 
  • Understands and uses best practices regarding standard/universal precautions and BBP response, including proper methods for the cleanup of biological waste.   
  • Understands and adheres to state, federal, and organizational guidelines regarding HIPAA, protection of PHI, and data stewardship. 
  • Assists residents with care/resource navigation (i.e. finding phone numbers, scanning/faxing documents, transit planning, etc.) 
  • Assists residents in scheduling appointments and coordinating information with other care team including case management, management, behavioral health or health services.  
  • Assists in flipping or cleaning rooms when assigned by management staff.  
  • Participates and plans community shared activities for residents of program. Coordinates with case management and management staff for execution and supply procurement. Participates in planning monthly event calendar and engaging residents to attend.  
  • On call employees are required to pick up at least 1 shift every other month.  
  • Makes hourly building perimeter inspections of site to ensure a secure and safe environment. 
  • When applicable, maintains accurate and timely records of all client encounters, consistent with CCH documentation standards. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 


Qualifications Summary 
  • Experience working with marginalized populations. 
  • Experience in homeless services and/or behavioral health services preferred. 
  • CPR, First-aid, and safety training preferred. 
  • High School Diploma/GED. 


$20.64 - $23.94 an hour
