The job & what you’d be working on

As an Ecommerce Solutions Architect at Columbia Road, you will work in a high-impact role in the core of our clients’ businesses.

• You will be a trusted advisor to important client stakeholders and your contribution will have a significant effect on the client’s success. You enjoy diving into business problems - not just the technical ones. You are able to see the business needs behind the technical requirements.
  
  
• You have a wide range of knowledge of different technologies and take an agnostic approach when choosing the tools and recommendations based on the clients’ business needs. You're able to describe where monolithic architecture works better than a microservice system, and vice versa, as you preferably have first hand experience from both.
  
  
• As a hands-on consultant, you’ll lead designing and implementing the technical solutions needed to drive results and solve complex business problems. You will be comfortable with data modeling, integrations and cloud architecture, as well as implementing full-stack solutions when needed. You’ll be able to scope, plan and oversee different types of solutions, such as build storefronts, work with backends and APIs.
  
  
• Roadies work as diverse teams of digital experts, tailored to each project and the client's needs, to devise optimal solutions in an iterative manner within a multidisciplinary team. You will be able to bring best practices and guidance to fellow team members, some of which may be technical experts, and coach others. You are able to ensure the completion of challenging projects and activities you have ownership of.
  
  
• The more experience you gain, the more you'll be able to take on responsibility for client projects and accounts, as well as support in sales activities. You will be able to assist our Sales team in defining and scoping client projects, helping them build strong technical solutions for our client proposals. You also have the exciting opportunity of being part of developing our ecommerce offering.

Even as your focus is on designing solutions and coordinating their implementation, we value people who aren’t too afraid to get their hands dirty with whatever is needed to help our clients sell better.

All of our consultants work directly with client stakeholders to build a good understanding of their business and its challenges. When it comes to remote versus on-site, we are flexible and always work according to what’s best for our clients - and would expect you to spend at least a few days a week at our client’s premises. 

We are active in the ecommerce and digital development communities. In this role you are able to foster the connections you might already have, as well as create new ones. This could include participating in different industry events, or even hosting one, as well being active in our ecommerce partnerships.

Expertise that will help you thrive in this position

• Extensive experience in designing and implementing technical solutions to solve complex business problems.
• Recent experience from working in a role that has included a significant amount of solution architecture planning.
• Broad experience in building ecommerce solutions. We especially value experience working on ecommerce platforms, such as Shopify, Commercetools, Spryker, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Adobe Commerce, Salesforce Commerce and/or custom-built solutions.
• Past experience of systems and services that are commonly related to ecommerce architecture, such as ERP, PIM, CMS, CRM, payment services, logistics, analytics and marketing automation.
• Past experience of common development languages, frameworks and tools could include some of the following: PHP, Java, C#, Go, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, NodeJS, React, NextJS, Angular, Vue.js.
• Past experience of APIs, such as REST, GraphQL, SOAP.
• Past experience of relational and NoSQL databases.
• Past experience or general understanding of cloud infrastructure, such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform.
• Understanding of the entire web development process (design, development, deployment, operations).
• Proven ability to advise senior business leadership through strategic insights, backed by excellent communication skills, a strong analytical mindset, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Experience in the following areas is considered a bonus, but not required:

• Previous consulting experience
• Previous experience with enterprise architecture
• Previous experience from architecture principles, such as TOGAF

Recruitment process

The compensation for this role ranges between 6000 - 8000€/month depending on your professional skill set and level of seniority.
