Position Summary
The Fondren Library communications and marketing specialist helps promote library services, programs, and events. Under the guidance of senior management, works on the development and implementation of communication and marketing activities, enabling programs, services, events and/or products to meet organizational objectives.
This is a part time, benefits eligible position with a starting rate of $24.00 an hour and a flexible work schedule.

Essential Functions
- Under direct guidance helps to determine digital media needs for instructors and / or students, and provide or coordinate solutions
- Provides assistance in the direct integration of digital media technology into course curricula, extra-curricular or co-curricular learning, and / or research projects
- Develops relationships with service providers throughout the university to advocate needs and obtains resources for faculty and students
- Assists in the development of resources, seminars, courses, or workshops to disseminate information about uses of digital media technology and teaches workshops on media production
- Recommends software, hardware, and multimedia equipment
- Engages in initiatives and projects to encourage faculty and / or students to adopt the use of appropriate digital media technologies in their teaching, learning, co-curricular activities, or research
- Stays informed about digital media technology developments through mailing lists, publications, and conferences
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Additional Functions
- Performs and coordinates daily work such as resource reservations, equipment check-ins and check-outs, studio usage, poster printing, payment collection, and faculty work requests to ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently
- Trains and mentors DMC student workers
- Troubleshoots and maintains digital media equipment, hardware and software
Preferences
- Bachelor's Degree in film and media, digital art and media, instructional technology, architecture, graphics design, information science, or related field.
- Six months of experience working as a digital media specialist, graphics specialist, media services specialist, multimedia instructional designer, or in a related field.
- Experience with digital media technology usage in an academic environment
- Teaching/training experience
- Media project development experience
- Supervisory or mentoring experience
