Communications Strategist - Internal Comms (Houston)

Description

The Communications Strategist is part of the Internal Communications team and will be responsible for helping the Houston regional team to enrich the Burns & McDonnell communication strategies in creating, preserving and promoting our strong employee ownership culture. The Communications Strategist is a resource in all things related to enhancing internal communications, communication strategies and the internal brand identity. This will be an in-office position located at our Houston TX office.

  • Creates, manages and executes internal communication strategy for local office.
  • Assists leadership with any communication needs.
  • Responsible for creating and managing content on company intranet.
  • Creates and manages content for internal digital signage.
  • Highlights Houston, Austin and Oklahoma City wins on corporate news, intranet, and internal publications.
  • Works on communication strategy for any internal programs, awards, events, milestones in the Houston, Austin and Oklahoma City offices.
  • Reviews and edits presentations related to internal programs, leadership presentations, etc.
  • Ensures that the emergency response procedures and crisis communication plans are current.
  • Monitors and verifies benchmarks during the production process for announcements including changes, announcements, celebratory and all other videos.
  • Writes, creates and edits internal videos to be used in local offices and company wide.
  • Support companywide intiatives within the local office.
  • Partner with other departments, providing content and guidance for internal communication related activities.
  • Analyzes data of internal communication campaigns and provides feedback on suggested changes, areas for improvement and successes.
  • Provide resources for internal communications and campaigns for department/ global practice needs (working alongside global practice strategists).
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 4 years relevant experience required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong video and graphic creation skills strongly preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to efficiently prioritize workload.
  • Proven leadership experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with professional services industry a plus.
  • Expert creative or technical writing experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop creative and innovative public relations strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and provide excellent client service.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly present complex information to a variety of media channels and range in audience.
