The Community Classroom Program Coordinator manages and coordinates PLNU classroom usage at Mid-City Church of the Nazarene.
This is a 10 month position working from August 1- May 31st.
Scheduled hours for this position are 32 hours per week.

Job Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and coordinate PLNU classroom usage at Mid-City Church of the Nazarene
Overall set up of space for each semester/presence there on afternoons when classes are in session.
Liaison with Mid-City Church of the Nazarene staff
Manage any requests for space changes or adjustments necessary for class success
Manage any facility upgrade requests
Planning and coordination of events:
4 community dinners each semester (80-100 in attendance)
City exegesis walking tour, in conjunction with faculty requests. Event to take place during class sessions or on a Saturday at the beginning of each semester. Plan and execute event details, and attend/co-lead with Provost Liaison and faculty.
Investment in developing class resources (speakers, service learning opportunities, community exegesis, etc)
Distribution of resources for Community Classroom to faculty
Developing relationships on behalf of the program with key faculty and community partners:
Attend quarterly Mid City Community Advocacy Network (CAN) meeting.
New Faculty Training: Meet with any new faculty who will be teaching at CC the next semester.
Attend annual/ongoing events as appropriate: annual IRC film series, SD Interfaith gathering, Mid City Church of the Nazarene events.
Outreach to potential courses that would be a good fit for CC.
Participation in regular meetings with Provost Liaison and ACAT committee (Academic Curriculum Advisory Team) to discuss overall plans, assessment strategy and issues.
Building and training a team of student workers as appropriate for program needs.
Course Schedules: Check in with department chairs during the first month of school to confirm/recruit courses for the upcoming semester (due by October 1st and February 1st)
Confirm course, faculty, day/time/section with chairs and faculty.
Report courses and portal notes to Records Office.
Liaison with Mid City staff to coordinate usage of the church campus.
Marketing: Coordinate recruitment events from Advising Chapel through Registration. Production of Recruitment Materials: posters, schedule, brochure, website prior to Advising Chapel.
Enrollment: monitor enrollment numbers once registration begins, and options/additional marketing if any classes have low numbers.
Students: Send welcome email to new students prior to beginning of semester (welcome, logistics, contact info, etc.)
Syllabi: Collect and review syllabi for courses: offer speakers, service learning activities, community engagement ideas, etc. to faculty.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Bachelor’s degree
Required experience in Higher Ed and understanding of the University Faculty practices and culture
A strong affinity with and support of the spiritual mission of the university and its Nazarene traditions.
Intermediate computer skills – Word, Excel, Power Point, Adobe Ai and Qualtrix.
Ability to work irregular hours
Ability to work at the Mid-City site and when necessary attend meetings at the Point Loma Main Campus
Ability to communicate and exercise important human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the PLNU community, Mid-City Church of the Nazarene partners, and larger community partners.
Strong organizational skills.
Must have a service orientation providing exceptional customer service to the faculty and student participants of Community Classroom. A positive approach to work exhibited by a “can-do” attitude and being a team player is essential.
Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Vision to read documents, e-mail and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor. Hearing and speaking to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone.
Strong organizational skills and ability to use independent judgment in prioritizing, producing, and managing tasks. Excellent planning, organizational, and problem solving skills. Applicant must display a willingness to make decisions, as well as exhibit sound judgment.
