Position Description
RAND is seeking a Compensation Analyst to join our team. This position’s responsibilities include supporting salary planning and administration (including the merit increase process); job evaluations and FLSA classifications; variable compensation and awards programs; participation in salary and market surveys and analysis of the resulting data; pay equity analysis; and preparing market and trend reporting for senior management and other audiences.
The successful candidate will also:
  • Provide market analysis for personnel transactions such job offers, promotions, transfers, and other changes in employee status affecting compensation.
  • Provide related analyses and documentation in support of internal and external audits.
  • Assist in the audit and preparation of Compensation Committee materials for presentation to members of RAND’s Board of Trustees.
  • Provided detailed compensation related Excel analyses (e.g., merit budgets, salary structures, market competitiveness, job evaluations, executive compensation etc.)
  • Partner with internal clients and HR colleagues to lead special projects and represent the compensation function.
  • Provide project management support through the development of project timelines & deliverables, identifying risks, and escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Develop process documentation HR and compensation processes as needed.
  • Contribute to the development and communication of compensation programs and guidelines.
  • Provide process recommendations and support process improvements and/or redesigns.
Qualifications
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office with very strong Excel skills and experienced working with HRIS (experience with Workday is a plus)
  • Possess exceptionally strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and accuracy, solid communication and interpersonal skills, good writing skills, and strong a customer service orientation. Organizational and project management skills are also critical.
  • Be a proactive problem solver, adept at working in a team-oriented and collaborative environment, but also able to function effectively working independently and to balance multiple priorities.
  • Compensation experience in a similar knowledge-based, professional services, research, or government contracting organization highly desirable (familiarity with DCAA and OFCCP requirements is a plus)
  • Familiarity with California Wage & Hour law and federal compensation laws and regulations
Education Requirements
  • BA/BS degree is required.
  • MS/MA/MBA is preferred.
  • CCP certification is also desirable.
Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience is required.
  • 5 years or more preferred.
  • 1 year of Workday related experience is preferred.
  • Experience in executive compensation and preparing executive presentations is highly preferred.
  • Experience in providing analytical models in Excel is highly desired.

Salary range:
$82,100 - $122,100
RAND considers a variety of factors when formulating an offer, including but not limited to, the specific role and associated responsibilities; a candidate’s work experience, education/training, skills, expertise; and internal equity. The salary range includes base pay plus RAND’s sabbatic pay (which provides additional compensation above base pay when vacation is taken). In addition, RAND provides strong benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, paid time-off and more.
